Oil Pumps

Rebuilding an engine with a brand-new oil pump is considered essential by professional engine builders. Reusing a high-mileage pump introduces a high risk of failure and costly warranty claims. While a used pump might appear functional, it typically has worn internals that prevent proper installation and performance.

Install a brand-new oil pump to restore:

  • Internal clearances
  • Pressure relief spring operation
  • Centering features (e.g. sacrificial nodes)

The primary risks of reusing an old pump include reduced oil flow and pressure due to worn gears and housing, which can lead to engine noise, bearing failures, and catastrophic engine damage. Additionally, the pressure relief spring in a used pump has undergone millions of compression cycles and is prone to failure, which can cause the valve to stick open and starve the engine of lubrication.
